ODN Item of the Week: Locomotives

This week we’re reading about Morgan Engineering, in business for over 150 years and located in Alliance, Ohio. Thomas Rees Morgan immigrated to the United States in 1865 and moved his iron shop to Alliance in 1871.

Morgan Engineering became known around the world for building the first overhead electric traveling crane, and for many other developments in manufacturing and repairing specialized equipment. Today they even make retractable roofs for sports arenas!

You can read more about the company’s history at the blog post linked above, and at the CantonRep. There are also over 300 more items from Alliance Memory’s Morgan Engineering Collection online at DPLA. Take a look!
