Harvest Highlights

We’re taking a break from our Item of the Week posts to highlight some of the recent additions to the Ohio Digital Network and DPLA. We have the chance to add to the collections in DPLA 4 times a year, and just completed a metadata harvest that added over five thousand items, bringing our collection size in DPLA to 107,539 items! With a mix of photographs, text documents, audio and video files, there’s over 50 subjects to browse through from Ohio’s 19 contributors.

But the best part of viewing Ohio’s digital collections on DPLA is that you can also access the over 34 million items contributed from other libraries, archives, and museums from all over the country.

Our most recent institution addition is Denison University, whose
Denison University Herbarium and Denison Virtual Earth Material Gallery collections will bring a little bit of the natural world of Ohio to your screen. Both of these collections were begun in the 1800s and contain images of plant and mineral specimens that you might not be able to see in your own backyard.

With these additions, plus those from the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, Bowling Green State University, Kent State University, Toledo Lucas County Public Library, Worthington Libraries, and Pontifical College Josephinum, ODN is more robust than ever. And we’re excited to see what gets added next!
